Travel Grants to Participate in the University of North Carolina Brussels Summer Program
The University of
Illinois EUC will be offering three travel grants to students
participating in the University of North Carolina's EU Center of Excellence
Brussels Study Tour of EU Institutions, June 15-21, 2013. These EUC
undergraduate travel grants provide funds to cover travel costs and
accommodations associated with participating in the University of North
Carolina’s Brussels EU summer program. Undergraduate students in all
disciplines and departments at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
are eligible.
Deadline: March 29, 2013.

Undergraduate Research Fellow Grants for Projects on the European Union
The University of
Illinois European Union Center is offering three undergraduate research
grants in the amount of up to 200 euros (approx. $260). These funds
can be used to support the creation and presentation of research posters on
EU-related topics, as well as to support travel to present these posters at a
conference. Undergraduate students from all schools and majors at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign are eligible.

John Heller, former Chief Information Officer and Vice-President of
Caterpillar, Inc. Mr. Heller is an Illinois alum, who received his MBA in 1999.
He joined Caterpillar in 1973 and was named Director of Caterpillar's Global
Information Technology Solutions in 2001, the then-largest department of the
company's Systems + Processes Division.
This workshop will offer an
opportunity to have an intimate conversation with Mr. Heller, asking him
questions related to his professional career and personal lessons around

The Career Center Summer Interns
The Career Center (TCC) is seeking two energetic and
customer oriented summer interns for 2013. The Career Center is the primary
point of contact for all students regarding professional development. The
internship focuses on providing direct contact to thousands of incoming
students and parents while working alongside TCC staff in designing and
creating best outreach methods for current students. The intern will have the
ability to work on both small and large projects as well as receive ongoing
personalized, professional development help from TCC staff.
Application deadline is Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 5:00 pm.

letter, and a brief 250 word writing sample on "How does this position fit

IDA KING STEVENS AWARD
The local branch of the American Association of University
Women (AAUW) will select a qualifying undergraduate student to receive the Ida
King Stevens Award. The Ida King Stevens Award is intended to help returning
women students complete their education.
The scholarship awards $1000 (500 each semester) toward the recipient’s
tuition and fees. The recipient will be
contacted to participate in appropriate AAUW Branch activities.
The recipient must:
1. Be female.
2. Be a resident of the state of Illinois (as defined by the UIUC standard for in-state tuition).
*3. Have experienced an interruption in formal education of at least two years. (See below for explanation)
4. Be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as either as a full-time or part-time student.
5. Have demonstrated financial need (as determined by the FAFSA)
6. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)

Family Resiliency Center Now Accepting Applications for HDFS 494 Undergraduate Research Courses for Fall 2013/Spring 2014
The Family Resiliency Center is offering two Undergraduate Research Courses next year, one for the STRONG Kids Program and one for our Food and Family Program. We are currently recruiting students who will have Sophomore, Junior or Senior standing in the Fall '13 to enroll in these courses. Students may enroll in 2-3 hours of credit for these courses.
The purpose of these two-semester year-long supervised research courses is to provide students with a first-hand experience working as part of a research team as well as to help them develop a working knowledge of the theory and applications of trans-disciplinary research used to guide the specific research program. Students will:
· Be provided with an overview of the Research Program issues;
· Develop oral and written communication skills; data management skills; team building skills; critical thinking skills; and professional work environment skills;
· Be trained in mixed methods relevant to factors that contribute to child and family health;
· Identify opportunities and barriers in transdisciplinary team work;
· Prepare a scientific presentation that reflects the students' knowledge of transdisciplinary science gained through working on one of the program subprojects. The presentation will be given at a scientific conference held in the Spring 2014.
