Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:
The Senate Committee on Student Discipline and the Office for Student Conflict Resolution are now seeking to fill vacant student and faculty seats on the Subcommittee on Undergraduate Student Conduct (SUSC) and the Subcommittee on Graduate Student Conduct (SGSC). Service on these committees is a challenging and satisfying way for students and faculty to enhance their academic experience. In addition to the actual review of discipline cases, training activities help committee members enhance their abilities to organize time, develop critical thinking skills and to improve communication skills. Some students who have served on the committee have achieved great success in law school and other professional careers. Many students felt that their experience on the committee made a definite positive impact on their abilities to interview articulately and confidently. Many faculty members have said that they have appreciated the opportunity to work with students on the committee and to gain a better understanding of the challenges students in our community face.
The Subcommittees are a part of the student discipline system of the UIUC Senate and is responsible for reviewing charges of violations of the Student Code.
